Search Help

We have implemented a search system similar to that used by AltaVista and several other leading search engines.

At the simplest level, just type in words, and the search will return all items that contain any of those terms. This is an 'OR' search.

To restrict the search to find items that contain only a certain word, precede it with a '+'. This is an 'AND' search.

To filter out items that contain a certain word, precede it with a '-'. This is a 'NOT' search.

Using a combination of '+' and '-' it is possible to refine the search results to the exact items you are looking for.

Examples

A search for [ radish parsnip ] returns a list of 20 or so items that contain either the word radish or parsnip in the description. This is an 'OR' search. See these search results.

A search for [ radish parsnip -horse ] returns a list of 15 or so items that contain either radish or parsnip in the description, but does not include horseradishes. See these search results.

A search for [ radish parsnip -horse +raw ] returns a list of 10 or so items that contain either raw radishes or raw parsnips in the description, but does not include horseradishes. See these search results.
